Watson Wellness Promotion (WWP) is taking off for snowy Chicago to conduct MITI coding training at the Universoty of Illinois at Chicago this week.
Never heard of MITI Coding? MITI stands for Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity. It is a treatment fidelity measure, common used to help people develop their skills in Motivational Interviewing.
How does it work? A provider/ practitioner will record himself/ herself using MI skills. This can be an audio or video recording. The provider/ practitioner sends the digital file to Watson Wellness Promotion for review. Using the MITI Coding System, Watson Wellness Promotion can determine your strengths, as well as your areas for growth with regard to learning Motivational Interviewing.
Interested in sending a file or review? Or interested in learning how to use the MITI coding system yourself? Contact Kate Watson at Kate@WatsonWellnessPro.com.

Finished an excellent MITI Coding Workshop with the students of West Chester University. It's so cool that they (and other PA state schools) host classes in Philadelphia so that more students can have access.

Coming back form the annual MINT Forum, I'm always filled with a mixture of emotions, and this year is no exception. I just spent the past week with 300 people who provide training in Motivational Interviewing, and despite the fact that we live all over the world, many of us are like family. I was sad to leave them at the end of the week, but thrilled to be back home.
This year, we were together in Berlin, Germany, and we shared a cultural and intellectual experience like none other.
Next year, we're off to Montreal, Canada, and as excited as I am about our next location, I still argue that it doesn't matter where we go on the map. The experience of looking across the dinner table at friends from Sweden, Japan, Chile, South Africa, and Poland is remarkable in any corner of the world.

This is just a friendly reminder to send in all training requests for the fall as soon as possible. The calendar is getting quite full, and I know there are some organizations who count on an annual training. Email kate@watsonwellnesspro.com to set the date!
If for some reason I am not able to accommodate your training needs, I can usually refer you to another capable trainer, no matter where you are in the country.
Thanks folks!

I was lucky enough to work with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine TWICE this week. On Monday, I spoke to the students about how to recognize and address domestic violence in the healthcare encounter, and on Tuesday, I spoke to the participants of the Heart Healthy Program about the effect of trauma on the body. What a wonderful group of students. They are doing important work and I'm so lucky to be even a small part of it.
Next stop: 4/24 at SUNY Oneonta. Can't wait!

I spent the day with some great folks from the Mayor's Office yesterday. They work for the Financial Empowerment Program, helping people to get their finances on track to either pay down debt, save more money, buy a home, etc. They do some really wonderful work over there, and I enjoyed my chance to spend the day with them for MI Training.
